Create a New Course

Course setup

To create a new course:

  1. Navigate to the Account menu via the button on the very top-right of the page.
  2. Go to the SETUP tab.
  3. Click the Manage courses button.
  4. Click the Create new course button.
  5. Fill out the form to create your new course.

Note

  • The URL Slug is the final piece of the URL unique to that course. So, for example, the "slug" of https://early-access.gospelpaths.com/course/first is "first."
  • Adding a Category is optional and used for organizing your courses.
  • Base your new course off a template, an existing course, or start from scratch.

Course Settings

Navigate to your course settings via the gear icon button on the top right of every page in your course.

Status tab

Draft
  • All changes are automatically saved while you edit the course content
  • However, these changes are not published to the course until you click Commit draft in the Course settings menu. If your course is not yet live, we recommend committing your draft after each editing work session.
Mode
  • You will need to change the course status to Live or Self-paced mode before people can enroll.
  • Normal Live course life cycle: Pre-launch > Live > Retired.
  • Normal Self-paced course life cycle: Pre-launch > Self-paced > Retired.

Visibility
  • Choose what content can be seen by users not yet enrolled in the course.
Enrollment Type
  • Self-enrollment
  • This option allows users to freely click the "Enroll in this course" button on the homepage.
  • Facilitated enrollment
  • The "Enroll in this course" button is disabled.
  • A site admin must manually enroll students.
  • You may want to add a "Contact form" component (from the editor) to the homepage.
Delete Course
  • Yes, that is what this button does! (A pop-up will appear asking if you are sure.)

Settings tab

Image
  • Add/edit the course image which is displayed on the course’s homepage.
Category
  • Add categories if your site has multiple courses that you want to organize by groups
Tags
  • For further organization of courses, add tags.
